Energy and Vitality

Energy and Vitality
How to maximise your energy levels and boost your health at the same time. You'll be looking and feeling on top of the world in no time!

Choosing your diet carefully is the best way to reach optimum energy levels:
  • Eat slow releasing carbohydrates i.e. brown rice and pasta with small amounts of protein.  This way the energy will release at a steady rate sustaining you throughout the day.
  • Eat lots of vegetables - they're full of the nutrients your body needs to function optimally.
  • Drink lots of Water throughout the day - being dehydrated will make you feel tired.
  • Ensure that you have sufficient levels of the nutrients that support energy pathways. B vitamins, Vitamin C, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, Zinc and Chromium are important. As well as Choline and Amino Acids which are found in protein.
  • Include essential fatty acid foods such as tuna, salmon, nuts and seeds. Studies have shown that energy levels improve with the right balance of Omega 3’s and 6’s. To supplement your Essential Fatty Acids take a quality Omega supplement such as Nordic Naturals Omega Blood Sugar with chromium to support blood sugar balance.

As well as diet it is important to examine the stresses and stimulants that you are exposed to:
  • The energy boost you get from using a stimulant such as alcohol, chocolate or coffee comes at the expense of using energy at a greater rate than the body can replace it. This inevitably leads to a dip in energy levels after the effects of the stimulant has worn off.
  • Psychologist and philospher Oscar Ichazo said “All drugs can be characterised as ‘energy consumers’. Consuming energy at a rate much greater than our natural ability to replace it. As drugs burn all our accumulated vitality in short periods of time, the brief exaltation is inevitably followed by depletion of vital energy, felt as the “down”, the depressant effect of drugs. Nothing can replace a natural, clean body capable of producing natural and clean vital energy”. He rated the drugs most damaging to our vital energy, in descending order of harmfulness as alcohol, heroin, opiates, tobacco, cocaine, barbiturates, anti-depressants, amphetamines, marijuana and caffeine. (The Arican, vol 2, no. 2, Spring 1990).
  • Exercise plays a key role in providing energy and resisting the effects of stress. It must be the right exercise; which promotes a relaxed, strong and supple body. Such as Tai Chi, Yoga, Pilates, Psycho-calisthenics or Swimming. This type of exercise works muscles and stretches and relaxes them.
  • Nutritional supplements can boost energy levels by topping up essential nutrients that support our energy pathways and help to balance our blood sugar. It is only when your blood sugar is truly balanced that you can release sustained energy throughout the day. Solgar VM2000 or Ethical Nutrients Super B Daily Stress are excellent Multivitamins for this purpose. If blood sugar levels in the body are not balanced then the adrenal glands have to work to release stored energy. This can affect cortisol levels causing inflammation and poor sleep patterns. To support restful sleep try Tru2U Cherry Juice Concentrate or Capsules with natural melatonin.
  • Antioxidants are a great way to offset any free radical damage from those exposures to toxins or high-energy output exercise. I personally love Lifestream Astazan: to protect the skin from sun damage and Astajoint: a great antioxidant with glucosamine for healthy joints.

A hot tip is to use Liposomal C as a good detox in the morning with breakfast.
