Product Description
Children reach their peak bone mass between the ages of 18 to 20, therefore, it is important to provide them with all the right nutritional building blocks for well structured and resilient bones early in life.

Calcium, an important bone and teeth nutrient, is also vital for healthy muscle function and maintenance of the body’s pH (acid/alkali) level.

Despite the intense and ongoing marketing campaign by the dairy industry, many nutritionists do not consider dairy products (milk and cheese) to be a good source of calcium for humans at any age. Milk is high in calcium, that’s true, but it is a poorly absorbed form of calcium (remember calves have a ruminant digestive system with four stomach compartments, large numbers of bacteria and micro-organisms and high acidity to enable them to digest calcium from mothers milk and grass). Milk is also high in phosphorous and protein which are significant calcium agonists - that means they actually reduce the body's calcium stores.

Other good sources of calcium include leafy green veges, salmon and sardines with bones, black strap molasses, oats, nuts and legumes.

Even if your child has a superb diet, incorporating all these things, can you be sure they are getting enough calcium? There are four important factors to consider that affect calcium absorption and utilisation for healthy bones as much if not more that diet alone.

  • Modern agricultural practices and nutrient depleted soils means there is less calcium in our foods today than there was 30 to 50 years ago
  • Calcium requires an adequate acidity in the stomach to digest properly
  • Deficiencies of important calcium cofactors such as vitamin D, boron, magnesium and silica mean that calcium may not be optimally digested, absorbed or utilised to build healthy bones
  • Adequate levels of “impact” exercise – walking, running, jumping etc is essential to ensure that calcium is utilised to build strong bones

Even a child with a perfect diet may be subject to one or more of these other “bone risk” factors, so it pays to take a wholistic approach to healthy bone development:

Limit dairy food consumption to a minimum, supply a healthy, well balanced wholefood diet, make meal time a structured, happy family time to support healthy digestion, make sure kids get adequate fresh air and exercise and supplement their diet with Radiance Kids Bone.

Supplementation helps give you the assurance that the one thing you can’t control – the nutrient values of the food you buy, is supported with a top-up of calcium and the important cofactors so commonly deficient in New Zealand children.
